5 Ways You Can Really Make Your Company’s Podcast Stand Out

Make sure you’re not recording for recording’s sake.

Question: It seems like everyone has a podcast these days. How can you really make yours/your company’s stand out?

Build Awareness on Social Media

"The first step is building awareness so your podcast isn't a needle in a haystack. Utilize every applicable platform to spread the word about your podcast: social media, email blasts, blogs, etc. Link up with others, invite guests to share, guest speak, guest blog, join events, solicit feedback and reviews.  "

Take a Unique Position

"The Creative Hustler Podcast is not about documenting the hustle. There are plenty of awesome shows that do that. Ours is about learning from the most creative entrepreneurs and creatives about how they stay balanced while building their business. It's our unique position that I hope can elevate not only our listenership and following but also our business acumen and network."

Focus on Value

"Any kind of content marketing should be a two-way street of value. If you're going more than 12 months without content creating value for you, then something is wrong with your content strategy. Similarly, the only way to stand out and build an audience is to provide real value to your followers. Podcasts are the current trend, but that is just one channel to distribute your valuable message."

Focus on an Interesting Title

"Don't use your field jargon or complex words. Instead, speak to the average consumer. Talk about something they would like to learn about and potentially pursue in the field. That is how you make your company's podcast stand out."

Don't Ignore Your Audience

"Let your audience decide what they want you to talk about. Start a dialog that solicits a response from your listeners. Listen to what your audience is saying during and after no matter the medium, whether it be Twitter, SoundCloud etc. Monitor their reactions and use the data to focus your podcasts in a positive direction."
