Everyone wants to know how to book the kind of client who not only inspires but also benefits and creates growth for their business. I have found that attracting the right kind of client begins with how you are branding your company. Your website, social media accounts, and manner of communication all influence what type of clients you are appealing to. By taking a different or new approach to these three domains, you can target your ideal client. Here’s how:
Revamp Your Website
The first place potential clients will look for information about your company is your website. Design and visual appearance can either deter or entice potential clients, so it is crucial that it is constantly up-to-date and organized in an efficient yet inviting manner. Almost all communication that my team engages in with other businesses and vendors begins through the Internet. Having a legitimate, well-designed website makes your clients feel that your company is reliable, credible and professional.
Assess your website from the eyes of the potential client that is unfamiliar with your company — this is how my company, Be Inspired PR, constantly evaluates our website. We look at it from the eyes of an outsider who knows nothing about what we do. This is the best place to start: if a potential client wants to contact you, is your contact information readily available? Do you have links to your other social media sites? Do you explain who you are? Remember that this could be the first time your potential client is hearing about your business, so walk them through what you do and how you do it.
We are continually updating our website to make it easier to navigate, adding new information and features and uploading our latest work. Your website is your potential client’s first impression of your company, so it is worth putting in the time and money necessary to create a design that both you and your clients love.
Stay Connected on Social Media
Social media can be just as crucial to your business as your website. Platforms such as Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter are a great way to connect with clients and give them an idea of what your company does. Use these outlets as micro portfolios of your work — what clients would want to see. To keep your accounts professional and credible, separate your company’s accounts from your personal accounts. It’s important to stay active on these outlets and showcase your work.
My company uses these outlets as a main source of promotion; they’re easy and efficient ways to keep your company fresh in your clients’ minds and make connections. Although our posts may seem effortless, we actually do spend time and resources scheduling when and what we post on our social media sites. Our use and upkeep of our Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest have proved to be important for Be Inspired PR. We have gotten many business opportunities and made connections through social media alone.
Be Authentic in All Communication
Email is oftentimes the main form of communication between you and your clients. While it’s hard to show off your personality and business skills via email, there are ways to show your clients you care and are excited to be working with them. Make sure your email responses are timely and professional — it can be tough to stay on top of every email with such a busy schedule, but it is very important to make your client aware that they are a priority. Once you have shown that you are reliable and responsive, word will travel fast and clients will be excited to work with someone who is so organized.
I try to carve out an hour every morning to read and respond to all of my emails. I find that this is the most efficient way to stay on top of your communication with your team, clients and potential clients. Even if you just send an email letting a client know that you will get back to them soon, it shows that you care about their business and creates a positive relationship.
To take your company to the next level and draw in the kind of clients that you want to work with, you need to invest in yourself and your business. Spend money on your marketing efforts and branding in ways that will attract the client who wants to pay and is looking to hire you because of your taste and reputation. Your website, social media accounts and communication with clients are great ways to attract clients, and with slight modifications, you can attract your ideal clientele. Identify the type of person you want to work with and determine a price point. Once you can narrow the list down, you can put a plan in place to acquire them. Before you know it, you will be booking your dream client every time.
